Replace SurveyMonkey for events.
Event registration without the survey overhead.
For organizers using survey tools for event registration
Today, in four tabs
Not everyone runs all four. Whichever of them you do run, the event details get copied between them by hand, because none of them was built for events.
After
- A public page for every event, and a calendar of all of them Free
- Free RSVP with a capacity limit per date Free
- Paid tickets, 25 a month, each one scanned at the door Free
- Unlimited ticket sales and the live check-in dashboard Pro
- Newsletters to the people who follow your schedule Free
The gaps
Where SurveyMonkey limits you for events
SurveyMonkey was not built for event management. These are the places the event part has to be done somewhere else.
- No event pages, calendars, or scheduling features
- Payment collection only on paid plans, and no ticket management
- Responses are survey data, not attendee records
- Expensive for basic event registration needs
None of that is a fault in SurveyMonkey. It is a general-purpose tool being asked to run an event, which is why the rest of the job ends up in other tabs.
Done natively
What Event Schedule gives you over SurveyMonkey
The same work, in the tool that already knows what an event is.
Purpose-built Registration
Event registration that understands events: ticket types, attendee limits, a waitlist when it fills (free for RSVPs, Pro for tickets), and automatic confirmations.
Zero Platform Fees
Sell tickets through Stripe or PayPal without platform fees; the free plan sells 25 paid tickets a month. SurveyMonkey charges for premium features you need for basic event registration.
Public Event Pages
Shareable event pages with all details, images, and ticket options. Not a survey link that looks like a questionnaire.
QR Code Check-in
A QR code on every ticket and registration, scanned at the door from any phone on every plan. The live dashboard showing attendance in real time is Pro.
Open Source
Fully open source with a selfhosting option. Own your data and your platform, no vendor lock-in.
Feedback After the Event
On Pro, attendees can be emailed after the event for a star rating and a comment, and the answers stay with that event, tied to real ticket holders rather than an anonymous survey link.
The swap sheet
SurveyMonkey vs Event Schedule
Line by line, on the event work. A dash in the SurveyMonkey column means that job is not built in, so today it is living in another tab. A tick in the Event Schedule column does not mean free: the three cards below say which plan carries what.
From $0/mo (Pro $5/mo)

Free
$0Unlimited events and schedules. Public event pages and a shareable calendar. Two-way Google, Outlook and CalDAV sync. Free RSVP with a capacity limit, and 25 paid tickets a month, scanned at the door. Event graphics, embeddable calendar, built-in analytics, AI event parsing, and newsletters to 10 recipients a month.
Pro
$5 a monthUnlimited ticket sales and the live check-in dashboard. Custom fields on the form, ticket waitlist, promo codes, sales export. The embeddable ticket widget, the REST API and webhooks. Newsletters to 100 recipients a month.
Enterprise
$15 a monthYour own domain. Up to five team members. Internal and unlisted events. AI flyer and style generation, AI agenda scanning, WhatsApp event creation, and newsletters to 1,000 recipients a month.
Two footnotes worth reading before you switch. Your follower list is never capped, but the monthly newsletter allowance counts recipients rather than sends, so one letter to 40 followers spends 40 of it; the automatic digest of new events that confirmed subscribers get does not count against it. And Free is a single team member; extra members are Enterprise. What does not change with the plan is the fee on ticket sales, which is zero on all three, or the ways to get paid: Stripe, PayPal, Payfast for rand, Invoice Ninja, a payment link or cash. Past the processor's own fee, the money is yours, and a Stripe or PayPal sale can be refunded from the Sales page in full or in part.

About SurveyMonkey
SurveyMonkey is a survey platform that some event organizers repurpose for event registration and feedback collection. While it offers form building capabilities, it was designed for surveys and research - not for managing events, selling tickets, or handling attendee logistics.
What it is good at
- Advanced survey logic and branching questions
- Built-in analytics and reporting for responses
- Established platform with wide recognition
Why switch to Event Schedule?
SurveyMonkey was built for surveys, not events. Event Schedule gives you purpose-built registration with ticketing, payments, and check-in tools.
What moves across
- Event registration with ticket types, capacity limits and waitlists
- Free registration with 25 paid tickets a month, against SurveyMonkey at $25+/month
- Attendee records with check-in tools, not survey responses
- Public event pages that look professional, not like questionnaires
SurveyMonkey to Event Schedule FAQ
What people ask before they move the event work across.
Is Event Schedule a good SurveyMonkey alternative for event registration?
Yes. Event Schedule provides purpose-built event registration with ticket types, attendee limits, waitlists, and automatic confirmations. Unlike SurveyMonkey, registrations are connected to ticketing, payments, and check-in tools.
How much does Event Schedule cost compared to SurveyMonkey?
Event Schedule is free for unlimited events, newsletters, and Google Calendar sync. Selling is free too, 25 paid tickets a month at zero platform fees, and the Pro plan at $5/month removes the ceiling. SurveyMonkey charges $25 or more per month for features like payment collection and custom branding.
Does Event Schedule support post-event surveys?
Yes, on the Pro plan. After an event, attendees are emailed a request for a star rating and a comment (on eventschedule.com the email goes out through your own email settings), and the results stay with that event. Event polls, also Pro, put a quick question with up to ten answers on the event page. What it does not have is SurveyMonkey-style branching logic, so a long research survey still belongs in a survey tool.
Does Event Schedule support attendee limits and waitlists?
Yes. Set capacity limits per ticket type, and when an event sells out, people can join a waitlist and get notified if spots open up. The RSVP waitlist is free; the ticket waitlist is on the Pro plan. For an event that is not on sale yet, the free interest list, once you switch it on, takes just an email address and says when tickets go on sale.
Can I collect custom information from attendees?
Yes. Pro plan includes custom fields on ticket forms so you can collect any information you need during registration. The data is connected to attendee records and available for export.
Can people register interest before tickets go on sale?
Yes, free on every plan. Switch on the "Notify me" card and, on an event that is not selling yet, visitors leave just an email address, with no account and no survey. They hear when tickets go on sale, if the event is cancelled, and shortly before it starts, plus any notice you choose to send if the date or venue changes, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe. The event editor shows you how many people are waiting.
